Fed Chair Yellen speech eyed - RBS

FXStreet (Bali) - Fed Chair Yellen is scheduled to participate in a panel discussion on Wednesday, an event in which Brian Daingerfield, FX Trading Strategist at RBS, doesn't expect the Chair to give any clear signals about the timing and pace of rate hikes.

Key Quotes

"Fed Chair Yellen is scheduled to participate in a panel discussion with IMF head Lagarde at a conference titled Finance and Society. No specific topic is given for the panel."

"In broad terms, we suspect that with the FOMC moving to clear data dependence, the signaling value of FOMC communications are likely to be low. Put another way, we don’t expect the Chair, if asked, to give any clear signals about the timing and pace of rate hikes beyond “it depends on the data.”

"Two other Fed speakers are also due tomorrow – KC Fed’s George (non-voter, hawk) and Atlanta Fed’s Lockhart (voter, moderate dove). On the data calendar, ADP releases its estimate of private payroll growth".
