Forex Top Movers: Yen is the strongest; USD extends declines

FXStreet (San Francisco) - At the American lunch hour, the Japanese Yen is extending gains on Wednesday amid a continuation of the unwinding that has taken place ahead of the end of the year. Investors are taking profits before snap elections in Japan and the FOMC next week.

The CAD/JPY is falling 1.36% to 103.22; USD/JPY is 1.01% down to 118.55; AUD/JPY declines 0.83% so far today to 98.44. All of them are the top losers in the day. Top winners are USD/RUB: +1.51% to 54.81; EURNOK rises 1.18% to 8.9160; USD/ZAR advances 0.80% to 11.533.

On majors, the EUR/USD is gaining 0.41% on the day to 1.2419; GBP/USD climbs 0.16% to 1.5687; AUD/USD is 0.19% positive on the day to 0.8302; NZD/USD rises 0.40% to 0.7719; and the USD/CAD is +0.37% to 1.1482.

The Greenback is operated on the defensive for third day against its major competitors. US dollar still trading under pressure amid profit taking and an early monthly and annual rebalancing.

USD/CAD retests 1.1500

USD/CAD made another attempt at 1.1500 but was firmly rejected from the psychological level despite the loonie continues to suffer on the back of oil prices drop.
